ASDAN offers a wide range of awards for young people of all abilities to recognise and reward their skills as they complete 'Personal Challenges' in such areas as sports, healthy living, community involvement, work experience, expressive arts, relationships, citizenship, personal finance and enterprise.

The awards can be achieved in a variety of educational, training, employment, youth and community situations. It accredits thirty hours of activity aimed at increasing young people's awareness of, and confidence to deal with, relationships and sexual health.

It includes 40 lessons for young people aged 11—14, 14—16, and 16 upwards. These schemes of work have been written by teachers who have expertise in special education.

They are currently teaching pupils who are working with the full range of the P Scales and the early levels of the National Curriculum. The aim of these resources is to increase understanding of safer sex and to empower young people to explore their sexuality.

These resources focus on the social skills and communication involved in building and maintaining relationships as good quality and effective sex education does not just involve giving facts about reproduction!
